Connor McDavid had another four-point night and Stuart Skinner stopped 29 of the 32 shots he faced as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Florida Panthers 8-1 in Game 1 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final.
Carter Verhaeghe scored the game-winning goal and Sam Bennett added two more for the Panthers, who were outshot 32-20 and never really threatened.
Sergei Bobrovsky stopped all 32 shots he faced for the shutout, while McDavid's four points (one goal, three assists) give him a league-leading 15 points in the playoffs.
The Oilers will look to take a 2-0 lead in the series when they host Game 2 on Saturday night.
